Description of Work Subject to conditions prescribed by the University of California, Los Angeles, sealed bids for a lump-sum contract are invited for the following work:

The Project includes seismic upgrade involving the construction of new exterior shear walls (one shear wall located on the North side of the building near the building entrance and one 3-story shear wall on the west elevation within the loading dock area) to provide additional strength and stiffness. The Project shall also construct a reinforced concrete column under the building cantilever at the southwest corner of the building. Work includes repairs to the parapet and roof along the perimeter of the School of Public Health building, and foundation work involving excavation for new concrete footings, and providing new grade beams to support the new shear walls. Mandatory accessibility upgrades required by the seismic work shall include the following: providing Code-compliant entry ramp near the main entrance; renovation of existing multi-occupancy toilets and providing Code-compliant drinking fountains on Level A and 1; providing panic hardware and tactile exit signage along the path of travel. Work shall include relocation of utilities; repair and replacement of exterior waterproofing and flashing; repair of exterior and interior finishes; abatement of hazardous materials; and repair and restoration of landscape and hardscape elements impacted by the Work.

This Project is the conversion of an existing waiting area on the 6th floor of the Medical Plaza 200 building into a new teleconference suite. The new suite shall be constructed to accommodate state-of-the-art teleconference technology, conferencing/ teaching video/monitoring equipment, along with teleconference interconnectivity to other locations. Construction shall include: new partitions and ceiling; renovation of existing HVAC system and ductwork; upgraded power, lighting controls, data; finishes; and equipment mounting. This Project consists of constructing a 11,594 asf (20,165 gsf) addition to the Schoenberg Music Building, to be named the Evelyn and Mo Ostin Music Center. The addition shall consist of (2) discrete structures along the west side of Schoenberg Music Building. One of the structures shall accommodate a one-story, double-height professional quality recording studio to be used for teaching as well as ensemble performances. The second four-level structure shall include a large ensemble/rehearsal room, computer lab, mixing/editing rooms, music instruction studios, faculty offices, and a cafe.

The Project shall renovate vacant space in the Semel tower to accommodate new clinical research functions, investigator offices, and an image processing suite. The image processing suite shall be located adjacent to an existing MRI facility on the C-level that is dedicated to IPCN research. The Project area shall include the west wing of the C-Level, and the west and south wings of Floors A and 2, and the west wing of Floor 3. The upper floors shall be dedicated to neuropsychiatric research on children and adolescents, adults and the elderly. Space on these floors shall be provided for assessment interviews, physical exams and medical procedures, electrophysiologic studies, training functions, and offices for faculty, staff and trainees. The scope of Work includes replacement and upgrades to building systems; upgrades to fire and life safety systems; accessibility improvements; and abatement of hazardous materials.

The Spaulding Field Turf Replacement Project consists of the removal of approximately 93,000 square feet of drainage mat and synthetic turf. The repair, regrading and restabilization of areas of existing soil cement sub-grade that have been damaged by water intrusion. The field will then have a leveling course applied, impermeable liner and finally the synthetic turf.

Project Name Hydrogen Fueling Station

Description of Work DESIGN/BUILD

Subject to conditions prescribed by the University of California, Los Angeles Campus, responses to the University's prequalification documents for a Design Build contract are sought from proposers for the subject project. The Project's general scope of work is as follows:

The Work consists of the engineering, design, construction and maintenance of a new current (35MPa) generation and next (70MPa) generation hydrogen fueling station. The station shall dispense at least 140 kg H2 per day, be accessible to the public 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and produce compressed hydrogen on site utilizing natural gas reforming and electrolysis “green” electricity, as verified by renewable electricity certificates. Proposers shall also submit a bid alternate for compressed natural gas (CNG) dispensing to be part of the station. The hydrogen fueling station will occupy the north-east corner of the UCLA Transit Facility at the corner of Veteran and Kinross Avenues. University will be the station owner and the UCLA Hydrogen Engineering Research Consortium (HERC) will be the station operator.

This Project will be partially funded by a grant from the California Air Resources Board. The prequalified proposers shall be able to adhere to all terms and conditions regarding hydrogen fueling stations outlined in RFP #08-606 entitled “California Hydrogen Highway Network Modular Fueling Stations” issued by the California Air Resources Board on December 19th, 2008.

The design builder team shall engineer, design, construct and obtain permitting of the hydrogen fueling station, including providing site preparation (with on-campus street modifications to facilitate station ingress/egress), utilities connection, acquisition and installation of reforming and electrolysis equipment and gas analysis system, storage, compression and dispensing equipment, testing and commissioning of the station, construction of structures and on and off-site signage for the station. The design builder team shall also prepare a detailed employee training plan, safety plan, risk mitigation plan and detailed standard operating procedures for the hydrogen fueling station.

(NOTE: This is the second prequalification solicitation for this Project. Proposers who have already successfully prequalified do not need to attend the Mandatory Prequalification Conference and, unless a member of the prequalified team has changed, do not need to submit any further documentation.
